Furthermore, a timocratic soul is one who trusts in reason, without the good, and has a contentious faith. An oligarchical soul is one who trusts the most necessary desire, or money, and becomes stiff. A democratic soul is one who trusts whichever random desire happens to have its attention at the moment. A tyrannical soul is one who is miserable due to being ruled by a monstrous desire. A happy soul puts the "good" in its proper place above all. Like the sun gives power to see and the bond of sight in the physical world, the "good" ought to shine in the intellectual.
