Collection: Earth Mass

Beneath Earth’s thin crust lies the mantle, a vast layer that makes up about 84% of the planet’s volume and roughly two-thirds of its mass. Its upper portion is composed largely of dense, olivine-rich rock called peridotite. Though hidden from view, the mantle supports the crust beneath every mountain, ocean, and city.
