Collection: Salt Mirror

Salt flats form when shallow lakes evaporate in arid climates. Sodium chloride and other salts crystallize into polygonal white patterns across an extremely flat surface. When a thin layer of water remains after rainfall, the plain becomes mirror-like. On a clear blue day, the surface is so level that it reflects the sky with near-perfect symmetry. Blue above.
